New to receiving 1099

I recently started a position with a company that issues 1099 instead of W-2.  Can I claim business expenses such as mileage, using my own vehicle, office space in my house, etc?  Anything else I might be able to claim?

Hi Keeneys1,

Thank you for reaching out to Intuit's TurboTax Ask the Experts Event.  As a 1099 employee you will be eligible to deduct business related expenses.  Besides the expenses that you mentioned you should review the following, if applicable

-  Car insurance

-  Communication costs (cell phone and/or internet)

-  Office supplies

-  Advertising

-  Business interest or bank fees

-  Business meals

  Have a great day!
