need help on schedule D,why two numbers from 1 rental property sale added together?

I checked scheduled D and confused on it.

I sold rental property in 2023 and I filled it in Investment income the number is $22179, in business items sale of business property is $46127.

Why these two number added together in schedule D?

Did you enter the sale under Investment Income and again under Business Items/Sale of Business Property? The correct topic for the sale of Rental Property would be Business Items (If not under Rental Properties). You would not enter it under Investment Income. Choose the topic you prefer and enter the sale information once.

 

You will need to go back to the Investment topic and delete the other entry. Schedule D Part II Line 10 should be blank.
