My wife and I recently got married in December 2021. Our condo is in her name. How do i include that in my tax return? Is there anything special i need to do.

She owns the condo. Not a rental. Just wondering how i include those propery taxes

Nothing special if you are filing a joint return. All the numbers entered apply to both of you.

Married in 2021, congratulations!  If you file a married filing jointly return, which is likely beneficial to you, then you can claim the property taxes and mortgage interest on the joint return.  If you are filing married single, then she can claim the condo, not you or both of you.

So, the key is to figure out which is more beneficial to you and do it that way.  Remember, married on New Year's Eve, before midnight is like you were married all year to the IRS!

If you're a homeowner, your property taxes are entered in the Deductions & Credits section:

  1. Sign in and open your return if you're not already in it.
  2. Inside TurboTax, search for property tax and select the Jump to link at the top of your search results.
  3. Answer Yes to the question Did you pay property or real estate taxes in 2021?
  4. Enter your property/real estate taxes on the next screen.
