My state return is not saying I’m a US citizen it’s saying I’m not a US citizen how do I fix this?

How do I change my US citizen status

To change your Citizenship status in TurboTax, follow these steps:

  1. While you are in Tax Home,
  2. Select Personal Info,
  3. Select Continue,
  4. Verify Box Number 2 has your State of Residence correct.

Also, check your address in your Intuit Account, it is located on the lower left hand side of your screen.

I would re-check your state tax forms. Generally speaking, for tax purposes, most states have a Resident designation but do not have a Citizen designation.

This is in line with the Federal tax forms where there is no difference from a resident alien and a US Citizen. Non-resident aliens do file a separate Federal form, the 1040NR.
