My spouse did not receive a w2. can i still file my taxes?

It could take a while before his previous employers send his w2's so can I at least file my w2 and then we can add his w2's at a later time?

I would suggest you estimate the your wife's w2 and file an extension. Then you will have until October to file the return.

You should estimate the w2 numbers (based on your wife's last paystub's year to date #'s) because an extension is an extension of the time to file, not to pay. So you want to be sure you don't owe money because if you do interest will accrue after 4/15.

By all means try to get a transcript, but if the employer is late it is quite likely that the IRS doesn't have the employer's W2/W3 information yet.
