My spouse and I live apart but file a joint return. TurboTax would not allow me to e-file though my situation is permitted by the IRS. How should I proceed?

You could live on the moon and her on mars and joint efiling would still  be allowed ... so exactly what is the error message or code ?

My joint return passes all federal and state reviews by Turbotax, yet just before sending off the e-file I get an error message to revise my statement that we live apart.  Otherwise, TT will not send the e-file.  There is no difference to the returns if we live apart or together. It seems like they want both partners to be under the same roof to send a joint return which is ludicrous.     I have used TT for over a decade and have filed MFJ though we have lived apart with no such hiccup.

The statement for living apart is to allow a married partner to claim HOH. You are filing married filing joint so you do not need any statement since it does not matter where either of you live. Delete the form.
