My second stimulus payment was send to the wrong bank account and turbo tax was able to update it. Will that happen with the third?

The get my payment still shows the last 4 of my old account

If you did not update your information with the IRS then it most likely will again go to the wrong account. They (the IRS) have no way of knowing that you switched banks/accounts unless you inform them some how. This can be done either by mail or if you've already filed your 2020 return and have successfully received your refund into the new account.

Yes.  It just happened to me.  I updated my bank account number with Turbo Tax.   The second stimulus check went into the correct account but this third stimulus payment went into a closed account.   Frustrating.

I updated my account with turbo tax for the second stimulus and had the correct info when I filed this year. But they haven't processed my return yet so it still got sent to the old account. Ugggg

Same thing is happening to me. Has anyone been able to give you a clear answer as to what to do about this? I haven't been able to get one. I had fees taken out of my tax return last year and read that the stimulus might go to the third party bank STGB first, but when checking with them, they said that's not true. My stimulus is showing deposited in a bank account ending in 5229, but that's not my account or the account info I gave to turbo tax for my second stimulus. The run-around is very frustrating.

The IRS may have sent your payment to a debit card. You can get a replacement card in 8-10 business days, subject to unexpected COVID-19 delay.

I updated my bank account information in the TurboTax portal for the second stimulus. Will that be the account my third stimulus is sent to?

@ReneeM7122  not the case. I am in the "small few" group of people stated in this article

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/17/turbotax-hr-b[product key removed]t-issues-get[product key removed]lus-check.html

Turbo tax made a mistake and has not reached out to me. No action has been taken to help me and I keep getting generic copy and paste answers from the "tax experts".

I'm fed up and frustrated and have reached out to CNBC to let them know turbo tax response to them was a bold face lie.

Where are the moderators? I have gotten zero answers because they are all generic copy and paste.

CNBC will be contacting you

I understand your frustration about getting the stimulus payments.

The only "cut and paste" part of my previous answer was the quote from the IRS and I thought that was better then paraphrasing.  The link you sent does not open an article (Error 404).

@Irene2805 copy the link and paste it in your browser and read the article posted 3/17/21

It states turbo tax admits a mistake was made to small group of people. That's me. I'm the small group. The article also states turbo tax has reached out to that small group. They have not reached out to me.

When looking for answers, I find it's much larger than a small group. Why wouldn't turbo tax just be honest and say "we did not work closely with the IRS to make sure that everyone who updated their payment method for the second stimulus would have their checks deposited in the correct account" so people like me could be patient and wait.

Instead, I'm chasing a never ending trail of generic answers trying to make sure my stimulus wasn't deposited in someone else's account. It's a scary feeling not knowing the truth and I keep looking for a straight answer and no one has one.

Like I said, I contacted CNBC, they will get the truth since turbo tax won't say what really happened.
