My refund amount is more than the taxes I paid for my federal return. How can this be? Is it my deductions? Married w/2 dependents, ~41k of income.

If you received refundable credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Additional Child Tax Credit, or the American Opportunity educational credit, yur refund may be greater than the amount of tax paid

Just in case, you should review your return, checking your date entries starting with your W-2, looking for errors such as misplaced decimals or extra zeros
