My line 1 on 1040 doesn't match my W2 data. The difference is about $300 and my child's college can't process.

I've checked the data entered from Box 1 of each W2. Married, filing jointly, we only have 2 Ws'2. Why is the added value of the W2 box 1's different than form 1040 line 1?

Do you have any letters by line 1?

SCH by 1040 line 1Wages  is  taxable scholarship income and the amount

HSH is for Household Help

DCB means Dependent Care Benefit

Or do you have any 1099R forms with code 3 in box 7?  1099R box 7 Code 3 is for disability retirement.  It will ask the earliest age you could have retired at if still working.  If you are younger than that age then the distribution will be treated as wages since it replaces wages on line 1 on the 1040 form.  If you are older then that age the the distribution will be treated as a pension.
