My income was less than the standard deduction of $14,600. Do I need to file?

I had no earned income in 2024, only unearned income from interest and dividends and it was less than the standard deduction of $14,600. So, I don't need to file a tax return, right?

this may solve your entry questions. if your gross income is less than your standard deduction and you meet the criteria in Chart A of 1040 instructions you don't even have to file.

But yes, if you have enough $$ in certain 1099-DIV form boxes, and are using the "Online" software, you might need to upgrade to online Premium software.   (Desktop Deluxe would handle it just fine).

ALLY bank does the same thing with multiple CDs, each reported separately, but also, there is one final 1099-INT page that sums it all up.  And that's what I've always reported in my taxes...just the one 1099-INT ,,,, Total $$ from ALLY bank.
