my husband passed in 2023. I should be able to file qualified surviving spouse but TurboTax doesn't show that option. How do I find it?

So sorry for your loss.   If your spouse died in 2023, for 2023 you were allowed to file a joint return.  For the next two tax years you can file as a qualified surviving spouse if you have qualified dependent children.   If you do not have dependents to claim, then for 2024 and beyond you will file Single.

The information regarding your dependents and your filing status is entered in MY INFO.

For 2024, unless you have a qualified dependent to claim, your filing status changes to Single.   It is best to start a new account with a new user ID.   It is too difficult to delete the embedded information from a spouse if you use the same account that was used for past joint returns.

To have qualifying surviving spouse filing status you must have a child or step-child being claimed as a dependent on your tax return.
