My husband is on SS disability and does not have to file, if i file married will it affect his disability income?

Your income will not affect any Social Security disability payments, that your husband receives.  However, if he receives Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments these may be affected.  

 

You must file your tax return as either married filing jointly or married filing separately if you were legally married as of December 31, 2019. 

 

Filing a joint return with your husband could subject some of his social security disability income to tax depending on the amount of income that you earned.  

 

I suggest that you prepare your return both ways before you file and select the filing status that gives you the best outcome.
