My husband (foreigner) & I (US citizen) live abroad.I will file as MFS.I entered my husband's SSN for spousal info.He hasn't lived in US for 10yrs. Does he have to file?

He also hasn't earned income from the US in the past 10 years.

No, he does not need to file.

If your husband did not make any US-sourced money, he doesn't need to file.

You should include his Social Security number on your tax filing.

Yes, if you do not include his Social Security number on your tax filing it could result in a problem down the road.

You may receive a letter from the IRS asking for this information, so including the information now saves you that letter later.

Dear LinaJ2020, thank you for kindly responding to my inquiry.

I was wondering should I write his SSN when I file my tax or keep it blank?

Could this cause any kind of problem in the future?
