My husband and I have lived in UT since 08/19-02/20 and have not claimed residency as we plan to move back to AK. How do we skip the residency question for UT?

You can't skip the residency question.  Enter that you are a resident of Alaska, since you've lived in Utah less than a year and haven't established a permanent residence there.

You will have to file a Utah nonresident return if you:

  • are a nonresident or part-year resident with income from Utah sources who must file a federal return, or.
  • want a refund of any income tax overpaid.

If you have to file a UT return you will be asked to allocate the amount of your federal income that was derived from UT sources.
