You can use whatever number is provided as the TIN in the TurboTax box for EIN.  The IRS updated the language on their form, but the meaning is essentially the same.

I'm having the same issue. It will not allow me to file, and keeps trying to get me to correct the form before submitting. There is no EIN associated with the 1099 misc form issued to me. Only TIN, and I cannot enter it in the required location because the formatting is incorrect.

Enter whichever you have, in the format you were shown on the screen where you made the entry.  A TIN would be entered as XXX-XX-XXXX

A Payers TIN would apparently be entered as xx-xxxxxxx.  A recipients TIN would be in the format of a SSN (or xxx-xx-xxxx).  Also, as mentioned previously by others; The 1099-Misc Isus the term TIN and the Turbo Tax fomr uses the term EIN. The TIN format will work in the Turbo Tax form for 2023… at Lesar, That’s my experience.

TIN stands for Taxpayer Identification Number xxx-xx-xxxx.   EIN is Employer Identification Number xx-xxxxxxx.   @neodaley
