My filing was changed from receiving a $1500 refund to owing $230. My state did not match my federal. How is that possible since TT was supposed to take care of that?

The state notified me of this change along with a bill. I'm mystified how TT allowed this to happen.

Generally when this happens, it is because something was missed and not entered.  A person could have left off a missing W-2 or another form or they could have entered the wrong numbers or wrong information or somehow entered something in the wrong spot.  When it is JUST the state, it could be that the state wages were answered incorrectly or the amount withheld was not accurate.  The state should have sent you a letter telling you exactly what was missing or wrong.

TurboTax cannot control the entries, only the calculations.  If the entries were not accurate then the results would not be accurate.

IF your entries were accurate and it was somehow a miscalculation in the state program, you can use the TurboTax accuracy guarantee.  See below for how to make the claim.

How do I submit a claim under the TurboTax 100% Accurate Calculation Guarantee or 100% Accurate, Expert Approved Guarantee?
