My employer doesnt have a box d control number on my w-2. How do i get past this step as it says a value is required?

No, you do not need to input the control number on your W-2. Just leave the box blank.

A Control Number (box D) is used by many payroll departments to uniquely identify a W-2 in their system. If your W-2 doesn't have one, it's no big deal.
