No, that's the point of the taxpayer privacy laws. Turbotax can give you advance warning if the duplicate return is also filed using Turbotax, but even then I don't think they will tell you which.
It shouldn't matter. You need to file by mail. Taking off the child with the conflict to file faster will just deny you a lot of money, and amending later will take 6 months or more.
However, since the IRS does not officially open e-filing until February 12, are you sure the error message is correct? The IRS does take some returns early for testing, but this is unannounced and we never know who, when or how many, but maybe their system still has a problem.
Also, if this is a situation involving children of divorced or separated parents sharing custody, it might be you are doing something wrong to cause the error. Write back with more details if this may be your situation.
When I read the turbo tax info it says that it should come back with a code saying which social it has a problem with. And no the situation this time is not with a divorce. I had a new baby in November and I believe might be a problem with hers. I was not looking to take a child off. I just want to know what dependent especially since in the paragraph it says I have to send the paperwork in of that specific dependent showing I can claim. So does that mean I have to send in for every single dependent? My wife’s and my marriage license and all of my kids birth certificates and social cards?
