My daughter is unable to file because it's saying someone else claimed her but no has its because she created 2 accounts . How does she delete one of the accounts ?

If your daughter is trying to e-file her return and gets the message that someone else has claimed her, it's not because she has two TurboTax accounts.

 

It's because the IRS computer has already received a return with her SSN on it.  [Did you include her as a dependent on your return?]  She will have to print and mail in her return.

Go into one of the accounts and delete it completely

Her daughter's return is not being rejected because of her TurboTax accounts.  You can have up to 5 accounts with the same email address.

 

TurboTax accounts cannot be deleted.  To deactivate an account you will need to contact TurboTax support for the procedure.

A tax professional assisted her with finding out what the issue was and that's what was discovered. She needs help in deleting. one account that on TurboTax site. So that she may file where in the middle of an epidemic unable to get out until the virus is under controlled.  Please advise her about how one account can be deleted.

Accounts cannot be deleted.  IRS record retention rules prohibit that.    The account can be cleared and abandoned.

(If she already file from one account and it was accepted by the IRS then a 2nd tax return from any other account will reject.)

 

It is the IRS that rejects, not TurboTax, reguardless of the number of accounts.

TurboTax accounts cannot be deleted.  To deactivate an account you will need to contact TurboTax support for the procedure.

You can call TurboTax and speak with an agent.  TurboTax customer service/support does not have a single phone number but has many different phone numbers based on the type of platform used.  So that we can direct your call to the best person/department to help you:

  1. Click on this link:  https://support.turbotax.intuit.com/contact/
  2. Select your TurboTax platform.  
  3. Ask your question / state your problem.  Do NOT use the word "refund' or you will get a phone number for tax refunds.
  4. Click Submit.
  5. On the next screen, choose the Call option and follow the instructions.  You will be given the approximate wait time.  

You'll get a toll-free number to a TurboTax expert who is specially-trained to handle your particular issue.
