My daughter is in college, lives off campus, and filed Head of Household this year for 2016 taxes. Can I claim employer ed assist taxes that I pay?

My employer pays her college directly approx $2700 ea. semester, and I pay the tax on it-I need to know if I can claim that amount since she filed as HOH

No, you may not claim an education credit, even though you paid tax on this money. And there aren't any other deductions available for this contribution on your part.

Parents may claim education credits for their dependents. Because your daughter is not your dependent, then only she is eligible to claim the education credit.
