My daughter DOB 3-20-88 is disabled and lived with us for approx 5.5 months this year. ~First half of year she lived with her husband in Canada. Can we take $500 ded.?

This is under "Credit for other Dependents."

In order for your daughter to qualify you for the Other Dependent Credit (which is a credit against your taxes rather than a deduction), you would need to meet several other requirements:

 

Support - you would need to have provided over half of her support

Joint Return - she could not have filed a joint return with her spouse

Income - her income for the year would need to be less than $4,400

She would also need to be a U.S. citizen, national or resident alien.

 

TurboTax will prompt you for the answers to all of the relevant questions to determine if you qualify.
