My data has been part of a breach back in 2017. I have been given a 1 year membership for ProtectMyID. No alerts so far. Do I need a IRS PIN to continue?

No CP01A or any other forms has been sent to me about this.

Tax identity theft is separate from other forms of identity theft. If you have not spoken to the IRS about identity theft (as I guess you haven't with no CP01A)., then you do not have an IP PIN (Identity Protection Pin).

You will not get an IP PIN until you convince the IRS that you need one - https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin

You can file your return without a PIN if you have not been issued one.

I HAD AN IDENITY THEFT OF MYSELF.  SOMEONE ELSE HAD BEEN FILING UNDER MY SS #   IRS ASSIGNED ME A NUMBER.   IF I FILE ELCTRONICALL IT IS ON MY RETURN BUT THE PROGRAM SAYS I MUST ASSIGN A 5 DIGET NUMBER ON THE FINAL PAGE WHICH WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO PUT IN THE 6 DIGIT NUMBER ASSIGNED TO ME   DO I USE MY PREVIOUS NUMBER FROM OTHER YEARS?
