My dad died in 2017, and I'm executrix of his will. His only source of income was social security, so he didn't file taxes. Do I need to file a anything on his behalf?

If his only source of income was social security benefits then he would not be required to file a tax return.

Thank you, Katrina. Do I need to file anything to let the IRS know he is deceased?

No. If he's not required to file then you won't need to file anything for him.
