My children are less then 1 year old, do i need their SSN to file? Or can i use their birth certificates

I have two girls who were born in esrly september but had some dificulty with the postal services and recivjng my mail. So i hadnt yet recieved the new cards yet

In order to claim your children as dependents you need their Social Security numbers. Contact SSA for help--it should not take six months to receive Social Security cards.

You can also file for an extension so you do not have to file until Oct 15 as long as you pay any tax due by April 15.
