I am being claimed for half the year so TurboTax won't let me fix the missing health care information. It said elsewhere on the website to wait until 2.26.2021 for an update and it is now 3.1.2021 but still not working. What went wrong: /CA-Return/CA-ReturnData/CAForm540NR/ISRPenalty/PaymentsAfterISRPenalty - Your California return could not be processed electronically due to missing information on healthcare coverage.Description of error:
Your California return could not be processed electronically due to missing information on healthcare coverage.
What needs to be done:
There is an issue with this topic in the product. This issue is being resolved in a product release scheduled for February 26, 2021. Please update your software on or after 02/26/2021 (for web products this will happen automatically), run a final review of your state return, make the appropriate change (if any) and re-submit this return electronically. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Can you please clarify what you mean by being claimed for half year? You can check the box that you had health insurance for whole year, it won't affect your taxes. California waived the penalty for not having health insurance in 2020.
Hi, thanks for getting back to me! He says he claimed me on his taxes for the first half of the year since I was living with him then and moved to California shortly after. Regardless, there are no options to change anything about my health insurance information since I am being claimed/can be claimed, and that is the issue that is causing it to be rejected. Is there some way to manually access this in the TurboTax program or should I print and fill the box out by hand?
It looks like there is a different issue with your tax return and could be rejected because someone claimed you as a dependent and you didn't indicate it on you tax return. If you're a dependent, you shouldn't be asked the question regarding a health insurance. And there is no such a thing as being dependent for half a year. The whole year counts.
