My bank account was charged twice for the taxes I owed

I owed 265$

I went through the IRS website to pay it.

That was April 3rd, I was charged immediately.

On April 15th the IRS took the 265 out of my account again. What the heck! how to I get that back? I was going to file a dispute with my bank since it was charged twice.

Any advice would help, thanks.

The overcharge should trigger a process to refund you the excess payment, but you should also check with the IRS just in case.

Customer service representatives are available Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time, unless otherwise noted. Residents of Alaska and Hawaii follow Pacific time. Puerto Rico phone lines are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time.
