Hi, According to the TT FAQs, with the CD/Download version of Deluxe, I can prepare as many state returns per federal return as I want, and only e-file three at the most. I have New York and Vermont income. After finishing the federal, Vermont and New York State show up, with the NY saying "edit", and a number in the refund/owe box. Next to the Vermont one, it says start, which I click on, then TT says "it's $44.95 for each additional state...continue to the secure online store". Is this the only way to prepare a multiple state income return in TT? Did I miss something? Thanks
Deluxe normally comes with 1state free and then you have to buy additional states - that has been the TT practice for at least 20 years
So if the FAQ states you can download multiple states that should certainly be true but to do so without paying for them is “a horse of a different color”
I think you missed something.......
Thanks for the reply.
Here's where I got my info:
I was thinking of just trying to ignore(not start or send) a Vermont (I'm in NY) state, but leave the income and info in the Federal portion, so I'm covered for the Fed return, then mailing in a Vermont State with downloaded forms....??
Thanks again
That FAQ is really “cute” because it states you can file as many PAPER state files as you want but e-filing is limited to 3
What is doesn’t say is the 1st state is free but you have to buy all the others!!!!
There is no reason you can’t download the forms from the state website, manually complete and avoid the $45 charge from TT. The risk are errors that are avoided by using TT!
