"Mortgagte Int Adj total adjusted California interest and/or points cannot be greater than the total interest/points"

I get this weird error on my State Return (California) when I do the State Review check:

"Mortgagte Int Adj total adjusted California interest and/or points cannot be greater than the total interest/points"

It gives me a field to specify a number: Mortgate Interest Adjustment, Reported on Form 1098 (... line 8a, col C). I put 0 here. After putting 0, I tell it to run the check again and it still returns the same error.

I have no clue what this all means. On my federal return I input a positive numbers for mortgage interest from my 1098 form. This error came up even though I mostly just clicked through the California state return without really modifying anything and just accepting the most common defaults.

Can anyone help with this? This item is blocking me from competing the form.

So it seems many people are having this error?

This seems like a blocker to getting your taxes don't correct since it won't pass the state review.

To any Intuit employees reading this: can you escalate this issue as it is blocker to me and many other people and we are just two weeks from the due date for taxes!! Worst case I'll need to go to another service..

Thanks for that. I need to know ASAP what they come up with as a fix.

I also have this problem.  It cropped up after the last update, I think last Friday.  TT computes some numbers, see CA (California for me) Form 540 > Part II > Interest You Paid.  You can see an amount under Fed, Column A and your state "Additions" column C.  Not sure how these numbers are calculated.  Prior to the update, I did not get this error and was ready to submit.

I have entered a 1098 for a HELOC.  I have deleted it and kept it in while entering the state adjustments either time and still get stuck.  The interest should be deducted in my State but not the Fed.

When going through final check and fix errors, I get stuck at the same place as you all do.

TurboTax recognizes the problem and is supposed to issue a fix on April 5. Let's hope they mean it.

After I downloaded an update yesterday, the error disappeared. They said they'd have a fix by April 5. They were a couple of days EARLY!

To err is human, to fix it is DEVINE. Gotta love TurboTax.
