On the MO Health Insurance Adjustment page in the Personal section (as it was in the Federal Business section), there is a box with an auto-filled number in it that says other health insurance premiums paid. How did it come up with the number? I didn't enter another premium, only the SSA-1099 in that section at the beginning. It seems strange that TT wants the 1099 information entered, but later if all of the 1099 is entered, it causes a problem. From what I can find while researching the subject, the Medicare amount should only be entered in the Business section instead of the SS section. When I came across the duplicated Medicare amount from my SS report, I looked at last year and it was the same so I thought it was OK. Do I need to amend last year to correct it? and also, how do I correct it in the current filing? Thanks.
The pre-populated other health insurance premiums paid number is populated when you enter your social security income. It should be the same number as the amount of Medicare Part B or D premiums you had deducted from your social security benefits. There is a specific box for the entry of those premiums from your social security benefits.
It is completely correct to have that number show up in both your social security entries and your medical cost entries. You put it in while you enter your SSA-1099 and the program will enter it wherever else it is appropriate. There is no need to do anything, the program is working correctly.
@mmaherTE Thank you for your response, but we're using Home & Biz, and I've been told not to enter the Medicare Part B in the SSA-1099 section. It gets duplicated and should be entered in insurance under the business section instead.
@mmaherTE Thank you for your input. I have a notification from yesterday afternoon that I can't find for some reason, only most of your message in an email notification. Please advise. Thank you.
