Married in April 2024. Both are resident aliens and J1 scholars, and from India. We haven't added our spouse names in the passports. Can we file tax return together?

If you are married as of 12/31/2024, you can file Married filing jointly o Married filing Separately.

 

The IRS requires no proof of marriage at the time of filing. But you should be ready to provide any proof (such as a marriage certificate) if the IRS asks for it.
