Married but living separately - one not working

I'm married living in Wisconsin and we usually file Federal jointly.  However, my husband moved to Florida and is now a Florida resident.  However, he doesn't work but does claim social security.

Would we file Federal married file jointly, and then do separate Wisconsin and Florida returns? Is there anything unusual about Florida's state return?

Florida does not have a personal income tax so there is no tax return to file there. as for WISC if he moved in 2023 income earned while a WISC resident would need to be reported on the WISC return.

Thank you!  If we sold a house in Wisconsin, then bought one in Florida - we still wouldn't need to file a Florida state return?

Good News,
Florida does not have an income tax, so there is no return to file!
