Marketplace and 8962 question

Husband and wife were covered for health insurance thru husband's employer.  Husband died in May.  Wife's only income is Social Security which started in July.   Wife got health insurance through Marketplace starting July.  We are filling out Form 8962.  Is there a way to separate dead husband's wages earned before he died so wife does not have to pay back PTC.

No, there is not.  There is an alternate calculation for people who get married during the year, but there is not one for those who lose a spouse during the year.

Would Wife be able to file married separately and claim spousal abandonment so Husband's income does not make Wife payback PTC?

No.  Death is not the same abandonment. You cannot claim abandonment when your spouse dies.
