Mailing 1099-B with 8453 when e-filing via TT desktop

I started my 2024 taxes with TT online and then switched to TT desktop. Prior to switching to desktop, I uploaded my required 1099-B since I summarized stock sales.

I have not actually e-filed yet, but I printed a copy of my return for review. On my 1099-B worksheet, the box is checked requiring I submit a1099-B copy. Under the box, it references the pdf file I uploaded to TT online earlier (and TT desktop did not complete an 8453 form for me which I would have expected).

Will TT desktop prompt me for the 8453 when I e-file? I assume I still need to mail the physical copy even though there is reference to my pdf  in the return.

Thanks for clarification.

Yes, you should be prompted to file the Form 8453.  If for some reason you are not, you can add one before you e-file.

  1. Open your return in TurboTax Desktop > Select Forms
  2. Open Form on left > Type 8453 > Enter Select under 2024 US Form 1040 > Form 8453 > Click Open Form at the bottom
  3. Check the box for Form 8949 and follow the mailing instructions in the link below.
  4. Once complete go back to Step-by-Step and finish filing your return.
