Mailed in Federal taxes . Can I go back and also e-file my Federal so that I can e-file my NY State taxes?? Would be filing my Federal twice. Any Problems??

Want to get around problem that I mailed Federal and cannot now e-file NY State taxes

Yes, filing your federal taxes twice will cause the federal taxes to be rejected and that could possible halt your state taxes from being filed at all.  I suggest printing your state copy and mailing it.
