Made unnecessary payment to IRS. How do I get my money back?

An hour after I dropped my federal payment in the mail, I was notified by turbotax my return was rejected by the IRS.  The corrections I made to the return resulted in a refund.  How do I get my money back from the IRS?  thank you

The best thing to do is wait a few months. The IRS will probably notice the overpayment and send it back to you without your having to do anything. If you don't get anything after a few months, call them at 800-829-1040 and ask how you can get the money back.
