Locality tax from a state I don't live in on my W2

Hello!

My wife and I live and work in Texas. We have for a few years. However, my wife received a W2 from her employer that has a number in the local wages (18) space and a locality name (20) that are consistent with a city/state that we lived in a handful of years ago. There is not a number in the local income tax space (19). How do we make sure that she isn't paying taxes incorrectly to that city/state? And if she is, how do you make sure she is refunded for that?

Thank you!

If there is nothing in Box 19, no payments to that locality was made.

You can check with your payroll department, but I would guess that someone just did not delete the locality information from your W-2.

If nothing was entered in Box 19 and you did not live nor work in that city, there is nothing you need to do.
