Yes, you should change your W-2 entry if you really got a 1099-G.

To clear the W-2 entry:

  1. Log into TurboTax.
  2. Select Federal
  3. Wages & Income
  4. Select Wages & Salaries.
  5. Identify the W-2 [Edit/Add]
  6. Delete the record

To enter the 1099-G

  1. Go back to Wages & Income
  2. Choose between
    1. Unemployment 1099-G or
    2. Other common Income
      1. Other 1099-G income
      2. This is everything except unemployment.

If you've already filed your return you can Amend it.

Yes---a mistake like that has to be corrected.  Did you e-file already?   What is the 1099G for----is it for unemployment?  A state or local refund?   A government grant of some sort?   We need to know what it was for so we can help you enter it correctly.
