Line 8b of my 1040 from 2019 was blank, so I reported that my AGI was $0 in 2019, but my 2020 Federal and State returns were rejected. Where can I find the correct AGI?

Specifically, I received the following errors:

Federal:

IND-031-04 - The primary taxpayer's AGI or Self-select PIN from last year does not match IRS records.

State (Alabama):

REJ001 - This state return was rejected because the federal taxing authority has not yet accepted or has rejected the federal return.

I filed my 2019 taxes through TurboTax last year and received a return; however, my AGI is not available on TurboTax.  So my next step was to download my 1040 from 2019 on TurboTax and check line 8b, which was blank.

I'm ready to just give up and mail my 2020 return in, but I'm giving e-filing one more shot because it seems easier.

See this TurboTax FAQ on how to find your AGI

You can get free 2019 tax transcript from the IRS

https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

If you filed late last year there is a good chance that the 2019 AGI never was entered into the e-file database. Try using 0 (zero) for the AGI.

If you filed an amended return use the AGI on the first filed tax return.

If it continues to reject then the AGI in the IRS database might be in error. Mail filing is the only option.See this TurboTax FAQ on how to find your AGI

I ended remembering my pin and using it

I called customer service, but they couldn't find my AGI, either, and I had to hold for 3 hours.  To anyone with the same issue who has stumbled upon my question, I would recommend requesting a transcript from the IRS or trying to remember your pin, as you'd probably have better luck with that than trying to guess your AGI.  In the worst case, you can always mail in your taxes and bypass the need for a pin or AGI, but that's a pain.  I also find it counterintuitive to pay taxes in the form of postage in order to pay income tax.  It's just odd.
