Keep getting rejection "IND-512-01 - Each Dependent's SSN on this return must not match the Spouse SSN on another return. One of my parents is listed on my return as a dependent, the other one already filed a return with "married filing separately" status. I had the same settings last year, did anything change this year?
To
prevent fraudulent returns, the IRS will only accept each dependent's SSN once
in their e-file system. Because your parent's/dependent's SSN was used on your other parent's return (even though the other parent did not claim as dependent, their name and SSN was listed on the other parent's tax return), no
further e-files using that SSN will be accepted. You will need to print, sign, and mail in your tax return. Your return will be accepted if you paper file.

My sister stole 1 of my dependents ssn and I keep getting rejected by the IRS what should I do?
If your sister already e-filed her tax return claiming your dependent as hers, then you will have to print out and mail in the return claiming the dependent. You will receive a letter from the IRS requesting documentation proving that you should indeed claim your dependent. I am attaching a link from the IRS website describing the process in greater detail. dependent dispute
