It said that I was getting $2,226, now it’s saying my total refund is $1,994 I don’t understand why it went down?

don't know what you are looking at.     maybe you were looking at a summary which combines fed and state.  whereas now you may just be looking at the fed.    the other possibility is an update.    unless you printed out a copy of the earlier forms, there's no way to know for sure te reason. 

It told me I was getting “x” amount of dollars in my federal return. I ended up owing a couple hundred dollars in state, so at the part where it summarizes your return at the very end, the “return” shows what you get back from federal MINUS what you May owe for state.
