It's saying that the Employer ID is invalid for electronic filing; however, what I typed in matches the W-2 form. What could be wrong?

It's the same Employer ID as last year.  Also, I checked carefully to make sure that the other information (Employer's name, address, etc.) matched the W-2 form.

The EIN from your employer must be in the 9 digit format XX-XXXXXXX.  If you can't get TurboTax to accept the number, make sure that you don't have any spaces or extra numbers in it.  If you still can't get it, try to delete the form and input again.

Thank you!   It turned out that I just had to erase the EIN and retype it (maybe there was a space at the end?).  It worked, anyway.

There have been a lot of misprints this year. My 1099-R was missing the last number and turbo tax would add a zero to the end. The number missing was a 2, look up your employer's ein and check it against your W2. There was also a case of a 0 that was printed as a Q. Good luck!

After I enter the EIN everything freezes and I can’t type anything else in. I was told the employer does not allow you to pull info for TurboTax. Can this be possible ?

If you are typing your Employer ID manually, and it matches the format xx-xxxxxxx, try deleting your W-2, close TurboTax, clear your Cache and Cookies and re-enter your W-2 (type it in manually).

To delete your W-2, type 'W-2' in the Search area, then click on 'Jump to W-2'.
