It’s asking me for a Identity Protection Personal Identification Number (IPPIN) I don’t have one and I tried to remove it. Because it keeps telling me I need to fix it.

Review your answer to the IP PIN question and make sure you selected No.

Click the Search button at the top right.  Type IP PIN.  Click Jump to IP PIN.  Make sure you selected No, I did not get an IP PIN.

See the TurboTax FAQ for more information on the IRS Identity Protection PIN program.  Click "See entire answer" for the full page view.

To Whom It May Concern,

I have called the IRS.  I do not have an IP PIN number, neither does the IRS issue one out of the clear blue.  They do not know why I am having this issue, or how it originated.  Apparently, this IP PIN number will prevent me from ever using TurboTax again.  This is unacceptable.  It must be on you end!  I need answers!  I have responded “No”, about an IP PIN #, and my returns have been rejected 3 times.

Sincerely,
Debbie McCoy

To add your spouse's IP PIN to your tax return, please follow these steps:

  1. Log into TurboTax and click on Search in the upper right hand corner (Look for a magnifying glass next to the word "Search")

  2. Type in "ip pin" into the Search Box and then click on the "Jump to IP PIN" link
  3. Click on "Yes" and then click on "Add" to the right of your spouse's name
  4. Enter your spouse's IP PIN and click Continue and then click Done

Let's try a different way to get to the IP PIN section.

  1. Log into TurboTax and click on any topic to continue
  2. Click on Federal from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen
  3. Click on Other Tax Situations at the top of the screen
  4. Then click on Show More next to Other Return Info
  5. Click on Start or Revisit next to Identity Protection PIN and then click on Yes
  6. Click on Add to the right of your spouse's name and enter the PIN
