Form 7202 is used by self-employed individuals to figure an amount to claim for qualified sick and family leave equivalent credits on their 2020 tax returns.

See the 2020 Instructions for Form 7202 for eligibility information.

Form 7202 must be attached to your tax return.  Since the form won't be supported in e-file, you'll need to print both Form 7202 and your entire 1040-series return and mail them to the IRS.

If you are sure you do not need this form here's the general procedure for viewing the forms list and deleting unwanted forms, schedules, and worksheets in TurboTax Online:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  2. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
  3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  4. Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.

Today-Feb 19- the IRS posted the following changes to thier instructions re form 7202 (see link below).

Is turbotax going to make these accommodations so we can efile and claim these credits or do we have to go elsewhere? Bc other tax software companies ARE accommodating those who claim these credits so they can efile. We do NOT have to paper file if we want these credits... and I most definitely do bc it increased my refund substantially!

Please, turbotax, please let me/ the community know if AND WHEN we can efile via turbotax and claim these credits bc the only reason why I haven't submitted my return is bc im waiting to see what happens w the efiling form 7202...

I accidentally had a form 1099-B become active on my account when I clicked on the wrong button. I assumed that when I backed out of where I was it would delete it. No! When I got to the end and did a check for errors it said that I had 9 errors. It was that darn form, it was blank. I finally went to forms view and found the form. At the bottom of the screen is a tab for "delete form". Problem solved.

I'm not sure if that was meant for me...if it was thank you. But the problem with form 7202- as of today anyway- is 100% a turbotax problem. Today the IRS laid out instructions on how to efile w form 7202. It 100% can be done but it's an extra step for turbotax (7202 has to be a pdf attachment w the efiled return OR the info on form 7202 is entered a different way electronically. I know for a fact turbotax can do the pdf attachment bc they do it for our payment processing if we choose to pay turbotax out of our refund. If they can attach a pdf to get paid, they can attach a pdf so I can too)

Regardless, its distressing that turbotax is still saying "your return cannot be efiled because of form 7202 per IRS rules" when that's not the case. Apparently other tax software companies have been utilizing the pdf for these credits since the form came out. Hopefully, now that the IRS posted instructions on how to efile and have 7202 w your return, turbotax will do an update so I can submit mine. I hope they at least change the "per IRS rules 7202 can't be efiled but we will help you paper file instead" part because that is tres' totally not true.
