Issues with filing

My wife worked for a large child care organization as a local consultant and received a 1099misc. We purchased Turbotax Deluxe and inputed her income. It lists $0 next to "Income from Form 1099-MISC" and the amount she earned under "Business Income and Expenses". The "learn more" tab explained the program would have to do that however here are our many issues:

1) how does she deduct/get credit for the mileage driven for her job? The only tab available stated must be armed forces related.

2) "Schedule C Accounting Method must be entered". Line F-Cash Box, Line F-Accural Box, Line F-Other Box. There is NO Line F on her 1099-MISC, what do we enter?

3) "Schedule C Material Participation Boxes must be entered". Line G Yes Box, Line G No Box. Again, there is no Line G on her 1099-MISC.

4) The program seems to think she OWNS the company and is asking for the complete address, what gives?!?!

As a consultant, your wife is/was self-employed.  She must report her income and any expenses on Schedule C as part of her personal tax return.  In order to deduct expenses (such as mileage) related to her income reported on Form 1099-MISC, you will need to use TurboTax Self-Employed  if you are using the Online version.  If you are using the desktop software, you can use Deluxe, but if you want the interview questions and step-by-step guidance for self-employment, you will need to upgrade to Home & Business.  As for your questions:

  1. See Above
  2. Indicate "Cash"
  3. Indicate "Yes" she actually did the work, so she actively participated in the business.
  4. She may not "own the company", but she is self-employed, and her business is "Consulting".  You should be able to click a box to use your home address as business address, if so, check it.  If not, enter your home address as the business address.
