Is total proceeds the same as gross proceeds on a consolidated 1099-B section

Yes, for each transaction.  But, be careful of combined dates/lots if you sold several mutual funds or stocks.  Some 1099-B forms are a little tricky to read and will give totals "within" a total for a particular fund/stock.
