Is there anyone that can help with this issue. I received a letter from the IRS asking for a form 8692 & form 1095-A. I have a 1095-C

I don't have health insurance through the health insurance market place, they are asking for a paper I cannot get. I don't know what to do, my 21 days from filing was yesterday and this is holding up our refund.

The IRS probably has incorrect information based on your Social Security number.  Call the IRS and speak with an agent telling them you never had marketplace insurance and do not have a Form 1095-A.  You are covered by employer provided health insurance and have a Form 1095-C.

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

TurboTax generates Form 8962 when you enter Form 1095-A into the 2024 tax return.

Make sure no one in your household purchased insurance through the Marketplace or set up a HealthCare.gov account.

If you accidentally indicated that you received form 1095-a:

  1. Select  Federal
  2. Choose Deductions and credits
  3. Scroll down to Medical
  4. Select the Affordable Care Act from the drop-down
  5. Select NO

If your tax return was rejected for not having Form 8962 and you didn't have Marketplace coverage in 2024, contact the Marketplace Call Center. They'll help you get a voided Form 1095-A to include with your tax return.
