Is there any way to use the old interface for TurboTax? This new GUI is horrible and I can't add forms directly or find what I'm searching for. I don't need hand-holding.

I cannot search for certain forms. They seem to be missing entirely unless you go through the different pathways of the handheld return system. I cannot find forms for FHSAs or deductions which were in previous years much simpler and were direct matches to their CRA counterparts. I used to be able to search for forms directly or switch around my different T-Slips on the leftmost side of the screen, where everything was in a large contained list, this made browsing easier for me to manage, and filling my return in piecemeal was a piece of cake. Ironically now this software is making it harder than last year to file my taxes, which is supposed to be what this website is designed to avoid. Not everyone filing their taxes online is a complete moron who needs to be walked through the entire process. Most of us are competent enough to do it, we just want to do it online for convenience.

I agree that the new GUI is terrible!!!  I have used TurboTax for almost 30 years and this change is PAINFUL.  Just doing income section for example, where I have a bunch of investment items from last year and it is ridiculously complex to update the numbers for 2024. Just let me do my freaking work like last year!  I don't need pretty big bubbles for each investment income.  Plus I can't just work on all my 1099-INT, then 1099-DIV, etc.  They are all jumbled together.  Stop trying to dumb down the interface!!  Pisses me off.

I agree.  This new interface blows big chunks!   I've been using TT since early 1990's.  The new interface for 1099-div and 1099-int etc is horrible.  Big huge bubbles in a long page list that asks me to import every single time.  Super inefficient to read.  Super inefficient to keep track at a glance (table format better).  Super inefficient to step through import yes/no and add investment every time.  Please revert back to the previous.  Much more efficient to see the older table format at a glance.  Now I need to go make a seperate spreadsheet to keep track of this especially for form 1099-consolidated input.  I do not want to be forced to import if I do not want to especially with situation for multiple financial institutions with multiple types of accounts (checking, saving, brokerage, IRA, 401k, 529, kids accounts, etc...).  Very, very, very frustrating and inefficient!

Agree. This new interface is clunky to manage and I have to scroll everywhere just to manage 1099 forms. I guess some might say it looks prettier but makes things 1000% slower.

same here.  when i delete one of these bubbles the pop up to confirm is also not on same screen and i have to scroll up.  The old way with a list was much better and easier to see and check.  now these large bubbles make it  difficult to double check that i have everything since it cannot fit on one screen without scrolling. go back to last year as it looks like EVERYONE hates this new format with the large bubbles that add nothing but space to the screen.

are they going to be able to update this to the software for this year?

I doubt they will change the investment screens for this year.  Let’s hope and pray they put back the old entry screens for next year.

Is there a way to use the old interface?

Agree! User interface ineffecient, ineffective and leads me to look for other tax products (H&R block?).

I have been using TurboTax for 25 years on a PC workstation. The new layout suggests that it was designed for mobile phone users, as the amount of scrolling required is unbelievable. Entering income with multiple 1099 DIV, 1099 Int, 1099 R etc. has become beyond burdensome. The only improvement is that names of funds etc. are now in alphabetical order (I imported information from last year).

I agree. They need a separate app for cell phone users and to go back to the old interface for online (also desktop) . Thank the seven planets I use desktop so I can use forms mode which avoids the GUI.

I agree as well. Long time user and this interface is horrible.  We used to name an import item as well.  Married, separate accounts from same vendor, now I cant figure out which is which...Scroll scroll scroll and which account did i import?  I get three separate Fidelity accounts to import..but the UI does let me tag anything.  Just "box one has $X.xx" Really useful...NOt.

Couldn't agree more with all responses about this horrible new GUI. Very cartoonish format - not appropriate for financial software. Been using for >20 years  - if this is not reverted to older format or improved per this thread comments, I will be switching to a new vendor for future tax years.

I absolutely will switch next year. These big bubbles are horrible and are unusable. I have 20 accounts and can't figure out which one is which.

Agree it's awful.  Having such a hard time entering income, stock info, etc.  Horrible, and my profession is UX.

I hate this new interface. It makes it take 3 times longer to be able to check everything. I'm going to be switching to a different product next year.

Person who approved this new interface release should be fired. Definitely not user friendly or intuitive.  No easy way to reconcile input other than to review the forms directly. The 1099B income section is the worst.  Not designed for anyone with more than a couple of  simple dividend and/or interest 1099's. I'm a 35+ year user, but will be looking for a new software next year if this awful interface is not fixed.
