Is there another way I need to fill out box 1 and 2 of my 1098t form? My form for box 1 is $6,900 and box 2 is $7,900 but it will not let me file this way, what do I do?

According to the IRS instructions for the 1098-T form, Box1 or Box 2 is supposed to be reported but not both. Your school made an error if you have values in both boxes. You could:

Contact the school and inquire regarding which box value is correct
Select one box value or the other that most closely reflects either the payments you actually made or the tuition that you were billed.
