Is there and issue with NY form IT-225 for line with A-101? It keeps telling me to fix my return, and when I enter 0, it tells me to enter on Federal return?

It won't let me e-file until I fix this.

A-101: New York City flexible benefits program (IRC 125)

if you participate in a New York City flexible benefits program, IRC 125, you must report the amount deducted or deferred from your salary as an addition modification to federal AGI on line 23 of Form IT-201, Resident Income Tax Return

It is reported on w-2 box 14. Enter the amount and select from the dropdown box the description that matches. TurboTax will carry that to your NY return to be added into income.

I have the same problem. I do not participate in a New York City flexible benefits program but keep getting error. How do i fix it?

There is a prompt towards the end of the New York form where it asks you to allocate the portion of New York City flexible benefits program IRC 125 allocated to NY

My federal form is blank (as I do not have any). If you enter zero, and your federal form is just blank, it glitches  ( blank <> 0, Turbo tax implodes).

Delete the "0" and keep blank, clears the error.

Having the same problem and have tried everything (manually entered W-2, made sure all reflected blank or zero) and no luck. My spouse and I have nothing in block 14, are non-residents of NYS and do not have anything to do with NYC for tax purposes. This is very frustrating since I have already paid to e file and now may have to mail this thing in. For what its worth, I have also tried clearing the cache, signing out, and using different browsers. If Turbotax doesnt fix soon, I will be looking for a refund.

Thank you! This worked. We tried everything else for over an hour. We had 0 and cleared the box and it worked perfectly. Thank you again for posting.

I am having the same problem for the past 3 hours, after 2 days of doing taxes. Never had this issue in the past 5 years. Where can we get help with this? Don't want to mail in the taxes because it takes so much longer. Paid over $200 for the bells and whistles TurboTax and can't move forward. Can a tech expert from TurboTax please tell us how to fix this? I restarted computer, went over all the figures, and still not working.

Having this issue, when will turbo tax implement a fix? @MayaD it seem that users cannot bypass putting "0" in for that section and prevents them from uploading via e-file.

Hi all, I spent 40 minutes on the phone with TurboTax support.  It appears that there is an error with the NYS IT-225 for non-residents.  This form cannot be adjusted in the on-line version.  I checked my tax return from last year and the IT-225 was never submitted.  For 2024, I went to “Tool” and “Deleter Forms”; i then deleted the form IT-225 which cleared the TurboTax software glitch and allowed me to submit my taxes.

The 0 versus blank thing didn't work for me. Really frustrating, TT. Let's hope deleting NY form IT-225 won't cause any audit issues. For example, HSA pre-tax contributions aren't deducted in NY. Ugh.

Hey MayaD, I don't think it's the user's fault. It's definitely an issue with TurboTax and not us. This might be the first and the last time I use this software.

I tried clearing the box and still get the error.  The only thing in box 14 is the NYSDI amount.  Did not contribute to flexible benefit plan.  I have spent hours trying to get this to work.  Will TurboTax fix this glitch so I can file my taxes?  I don't want to file paper.  Wish there was someone I could call without spending another $119 to upgrade.  Already spending almost as much as having someone else prepare it with filing 3 different states!!!  Should not have to spend so much to do your own tax return.

I don't see the tool on my turbo tax to delete a form?

donnielciii

If you have the Online product, to delete a form, do the following:

1. Go to Tax tools on the left.

2. Go to Tools underneath that.

3. Go to Delete a Form in the center.

4. Choose the form to delete.

If you have the CD/download product, then go into Forms mode (upper right in Windows), then pick the form from the list on the left. When you display the form, Delete Form is a button at the bottom of the screen.

Thank you.  I will try that.  But I already decided to clear the return and start over.  If I still get the error, I will try that.  Thinking of going to another platform.  TurboTax is pricing when you have several state returns to file.

If you do not have NYC flexible benefits allocable to NYS, then you should enter $0 as shown on the screen below. This will delete the IT-225 from your return.
