Is there a limit to how many times you can pay your taxes with a debit card online? After that limit are you only able to connect your bank account?

The number of times the debit or credit card can be used is based on the payment type.

Go to this IRS website for the Frequency Limit Table by Type of Tax Payment - https://www.irs.gov/payments/frequency-limit-table-by-type-of-tax-payment

Thank you for your reply. So now is my only option to link my bank account? It's confusing though, since I have made at least 6 payments with a debit card this year. Thanks again

Yes, you would need to use direct debit from your bank account to pay the taxes owed if you are limited out of using the debit/credit card.

@nlewton you state you made at least 6 payments this year..... were those estimated payments?????

you are permitted 2 per QUARTER if they are estimated payments.....

why are you making so many payments? estimated payments? payment plan, etc?

Yeah payment plan. That's why it was really confusing that they're suddenly saying that now!
